In the beginning of this fall i signed up to a class named Communication 10 i did not know much about it. However when i read the class description it did not sound so bad. So i signed up for the class and it actually was the only class that i did not have to crash into. Besides that when i enter this class i had unsuffient knowledge about media and i was not so interested in things about media. I learned plenty of things in this class which am grateful for with Mr. Pernisco the class instructor.
I learned about the racial slurs that the Japanese race went through including about the opposite views of different newspapers. About the Watts Riots and the Zoot Suiters and a topic that i was really interested in was Woman involve in the media and literacy and what they portrayed. I would recommend this class to anyone of any age. I believe its something that everyone would want to know and will get something out of it later in life. So farewell to my Communication 10 class it was a pleasure for me to learn new things about a whole new subject.

Hilary Clinton, the former first lady who pushed Obama hard for the Democratic presidential nomination, was rumored to be a contender for the job last week, but the talk died down as party activists questioned whether she was best-suited to be the nation’s top diplomat in an Obama administration. The talk resumed in Washington and elsewhere Thursday, a day after Obama named several former aides to President Bill Clinton to help run his transition effort. The two Democratic officials spoke on Thursday on the condition of anonymity to avoid angering Obama and his staff. One of Clinton’s spokesman Philippe Reines referred questions to the Obama transition team, which said it had no comment. Other people frequently mentioned for the State Department job are Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and New Mexico’s Democratic governor, Bill Richardson.
I personally don’t mind if Hillary is involve in the white house for any reasons what so ever. I believe she has the knowledge to do whatever she wants. I just keep in mind that whatever she ends up choose for she will make a change. Where we wont have to worry about anything bad happenning i also like her because she seems like she has other different reasons to be in the white house for example to be fair and square with everyone end lots of issues we are all concerned about.

Do you know whats the Objectification of a woman? Is how a woman can be and looked at and acted upon and fail to portray women as subjective beings with thoughts, histories, and emotions. Health disorders and Violence, and Rape are some of the effects of Objectification of woman. Women are frequently objectified in the media which causes lots of negative effects. Media objectify women and portray women as physical objects as well.
In reality, human beings are both objects as subjects, as they are physical collections of molecules as well as individuals. To objectify someone, then is to reduce someone exclusively to the level of object. When you see an image of a woman who is presented passively. Also who demonstrates no other attributes aside from her physical or sexual being, that’s objectification.

What is Media? This is one of the first questions i was asked when i first started Santa Monica College. Not just in my Communication 10 class but also in my English class. I really did not know how to explain what is media? Till i started learning more about it in my Communication 10 class. Then again i was asked the same question however with a second question : How does media affect you ?
After attending my communications class for a couple of weeks then i felt like i knew how to answer these questions. I answer that media is a way of destributing all types of information in a influential way to people widely. I also mentioned that media did not affect me all but now that i think about it. There is some ways that it does affect me whether it is getting the wrong or correct information through newspapers and television. An actually getting influenced by it. Perhaps am wrong whether what is media all about. I believe media has many different definitions it all depends on the way you look things.

I recently read an article called Gen Y’s Ego Trip Takes A Nasty Turn by Larry Gordon and Louis Sahagun is about the positive and negative effects of narcissism . According to the article narcissism is influenced by the media thats surrounds today youth. Research studies disagree whetherr narcissism is a personal problem or if generation Y is only trying to be successful in life by becoming what they see presented by the media. Some say that narcissism has a positive side on the other hand they say its all negative. Narcissism yet is still unexplainable because it creates and affects different personalities in today’s youth.
For example the reason why we have seen so many teen girls with health disorders is because these girls have been influenced by the media. That shows that being a size 2 now is considered to be fat (obesed). So these girls get so obsessed with having the model type .When their bodies still have not fully developed to make these sudden changes that have or will affect their lives as well as bodies. So media does have an affect on us meaning everyone not just Generation Y but others as well.

On Thanksgiving day for the first time i watch Meet the Zohan at a family members house. I had never seen the previews but i did see the poster on bus stops and stuff. Just by seeing the posters i imagined the movie to be good enough to go see it at the theatres but i just never went. Before i actually watched the movie i pictured the movie to be about a funny foreigner because most of Adam Sandlers movies that are played by him are funny and there is always a foreigner in the movie. So i ended up watching the movie while i was watching it i could not believe how they came up with a movie about the Israelis and Arabs and their conflicts since no one really talks about it.
I guess no one talks about it because its almost like if it is sacred to them or something like that. I felt the producers were trying to aim this movie to the exact people they make fun off in the movie. I would not know why would they aim it at them since the topic is really controversial. Talking about controversial it actually had a few news topics and articles about it. Now i look at as the media was just trying to make a bigger commotion out of it so they can get more viewers to watch the movie and make more popular then it is already.

In my Communications 10 class we had a discussion about the new billboards. What do we think about them and is it a good idea or not? Most of the class just said that they were really bright and some said that it was a distraction when your trying to drive and some said it was colorful. I personally think that it has its bad and good things. Bad things about the billboard is that its to bright and sometimes a distraction. My nine year old niece had to actually remind me that the billboards were bad because it is a waste of energy and light.
I think the few good things it has is depending on were there located at if the billboards are around a dark neighborhood then its good. If the billboards add some extra light however it makes the streets have a better appearance. When the billboard contains good or important information while your driving you cant get that information which is good thing but a distraction when it comes to receiving information as a driver or pedestrian.

I just turned 18 in September and i feel like this one of them big decisions in life that i have to make. The question that everyone is asking themselves is who are they going to vote for? Especially which propositions to vote yes and no on. I think no matter who or what propositions get more votes. There is always someone that is left unhappy. It is so hard to decide for who because the media sends out information that they want others to view and accept.
But it might be incorrect and they might be lying or they might be saying the truth you just never know. But to what extent will they say the truth? What is the truth? To them? To me? To you? After all each individual is different and have different views. At this point all that really matters is that we have someone that will make a difference or like everyone is saying that big change that the United States of America needs.

Prejudice refers to prejudgment making a decision before becoming aware of the relevant facts of a case or event. Racism is the belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities. Also that that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Now in the year 2008 we see still see that prejudice continues in our society. No matter where it all started at racism/prejudice still exists and continues to.
In every race/ethnicity even in gender. But to talk about gender it would be a whole new different topic. Additional forms of racism and prejudice were stimulated by the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001. This time with the middle east the majority of them were discriminated and judged by appearances. But haven’t we all my question is Why does prejudice have to exist or more like why do people continue to practice racism/prejudice ism?
